Houston2020 Building the community for generations to come...

Mashallah, Houston is a thriving city and momeneen are working hard to undertake projects for the future of our community here. Below are some of the projects currently ongoing in Houston.

 IEC Clear Lake Center

The IEC Center in Clear Lake is a rapidly growing masjid within the Shia community. The current facility is one of a kind since the next closest Shia center is about 40 miles away. As such, this center is home to several families who cannot make the long drive elsewhere. In addition to offering services on Tuesdays (Dua-e-Tawassul) and Thursdays (Dua-e-Kumail) every week, we are proud to offer daily Ramadan and Muharram programs and various youth programs for the South-East Houston/Galveston area Shia families. However, the Shia community has clearly outgrown this rental facility which is only 900 sq ft, has two small halls, one shared restroom and no kitchen. Such being the circumstances, we are in the process of buying a bigger facility to meet the needs of our community. The proposed new facility comprises of 1.8 acres of land with an existing metal structure which will provide 2400 sq ft (pls see attached pictures). This facility already includes separate prayer areas, separate kitchens and restrooms. It is located at 2619 Kentucky Ave, League City TX 77573 and costs $250,000. Prior fundraising has raised the sum of $95,311 but our goal is to raise $350,000 so that there is no loan incurred as part of the expenses and also so that necessary renovations can be made. As a 501©3 organization, IEC will provide a tax receipt for all donations. For more information or to make a contribution, please contact: Brother Hadi Elmi (713) 851 1256, email hadi_elmi@yahoo.comBrother Zuhair Dhanji (832) 692 4682, email zudaddy@comcast.net

The site layout has been finalized; and the cemetery fence fabricated and shipped from overseas, has landed in US.
